Unveiled originally back in April 2024 but being promoted further for CES 2025 this week is the new ProArt PA32KCX monitor from Asus, a 32” sized screen aimed at colour critical work and professional applications which features an 8K resolution and a 4096-zone Mini LED backlight. This offers extremely impressive image quality, sharpness and detail to handle high resolution images and applications, with the capability to support HDR content very nicely with excellent local dimming, high contrast and high peak brightness. The resolution means that creators who are shooting in 8K can now work with raw 8K footage in full detail.

Asus ProArt PA32KCX Specs

The PA32KCX is 32″ in size and has a 7680 x 4320 resolution (8K). We’ve now confirmed this uses an IPS-type panel with a 10-bit colour depth and a wide colour gamut covering 97% of the DCI-P3 reference space.

The screen has been factory calibrated with a dE <1 quoted. A built-in motorized flip colorimeter makes it easy to maintain the display’s professional-level accuracy over the long term via hardware calibration, and it supports auto/self calibration to ensure that calibration never interferes with creative workflows. Self-Calibration is compatible with all operating systems, no additional software needed. Users can initiate calibration anytime, or schedule it via the OSD menu.

The ASUS-exclusive ProArt Calibration tool helps users calibrate in both SDR and HDR modes and works with both macOS and Windows. ProArt Displays also work with major calibrators and professional hardware calibration software, such as Calman and Light Illusion ColourSpace CMS, for top performance. ProArt Color Center is a web-based online tool designed to help administrators manage the color accuracy of multiple ProArt displays that feature hardware calibration support ― even if they’re using different color parameters and/or situated in different locations.

4096-zone Mini LED backlight and HDR support

The screen features an impressive 4096-zone Mini LED backlight as well, offering a 1200 nits peak brightness spec, including the ability to sustain full-screen white at 1000 nits which is far beyond anything possible from current OLED monitors of course. This should offer excellent local dimming capability to reduce blooming and halos, enhancing the contrast and black depth significantly for HDR content creation and consumption.

The ProArt Display PA32KCX supports multiple HDR metadata formats, including HLG and HDR10, allowing creators to check how content will appear for a wide range of target displays before it is sent off for final delivery. Dolby Vision is also apparently going to be featured the latest information says.

Comfortable usage

The ProArt Display PA32KCX takes the series forward when it comes to user comfort with LuxPixel Technology, a suite of the latest advancements including Anti-Glare, Low-Reflection (AGLR) tech and Eye Care+. This provides a matte anti-glare finish which visually looks similar to the coating Samsung have added to many of their recent OLED monitors, offering excellent glare and reflection handling without adding loads of grain, giving a nice clean and clear image. Their ‘Light Sync’ technology also offers an ambient light sensor and Backlight sensor, the latter of which helps ensure reliable colour performance even during screen warm up.

Modern connectivity options

The press release last year said that there are high-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 ports included although capabilities and speeds are not listed. We don’t know for instance which HDMI 2.1 bandwidth or features will be available, and we also don’t know if the DisplayPort connection will include any of the new UHBR speeds. Dual Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports offer additional versatility with up to 96W USB Power Delivery, and a dedicated USB Hub makes it quick and convenient to connect peripherals. An Auto KVM switch function is also included.

Pricing and Availability

Brace yourselves, but the ASUS ProArt Display PA32KCX is reportedly going to be priced around $8,000. The monitor comes with a monitor hood for better viewing in well-lit environments.
