Is this the end of GALAX HOF?

It’s a question we’re entitled to ask ourselves: will we still see graphics cards from GALAX, KFA2 for the European branch, in the ‘Hall Of Fame’ series? If there’s one series of graphics cards dedicated to overclocking that’s still as successful as ever, it’s the GALAX HOF series. Many of you on our Discord own or are looking for these gems. We currently have several more in the lab, including the RTX 2070 HOF SUPER, the RTX 3090 HOF and the RTX 3090 Ti HOF.

La fin des GALAX HOF ?

So why do we think this series, so popular with overclockers, is coming to an end? Because of the US sanctions against China, NVIDIA had no choice but to adapt its RTX 5090 into an RTX 5090D version, as it had done with the RTX 4090. The RTX 5090Ds are in fact scaled-down versions of the RTX 5090, but on the RTX 5090D model, as our Videocardz colleagues point out, the differences will be in the Tensor Cores, which will drop from 3352 to 2375, i.e. 30% less than the RTX 5090 version. This shouldn’t have any impact on gaming performance in rasterisation, but it’s difficult to estimate the difference between these two models before the tests are published.

GALAX RTX 5090D 1-Click OC

Remember that the RTX 4090D had a blocked overclocking potential, even if some people managed to get round it. In short, we can’t imagine GALAX offering an RTX 5090D HOF. In fact, on the manufacturer’s page, only models from the 1-Click OC and EX Gamer series are currently announced. However, there is an RTX 5090 1-Click OC model on the main page. According to our information, GALAX will be using 90% 5090D chips and 10% 5090 chips, probably for the KFA2 models sold in Europe. We’ll be keeping a close eye on GALAX’s announcements over the coming weeks.
