The RX 9070 XT’s performance on Wukong and Cyberpunk 2077

A new leak concerning AMD’s RX 9070 XT features benchmark results for Black Myth: Wukong and Cyberpunk 2077. It’s worth noting that ray tracing was active on Cyberpunk, giving us a first glimpse of the card’s performance in this area. How does the card stack up against the RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4070 Ti? Find out with results from the Chiphell forum.

RX 9070 XT: what scores on Cyberpunk 2077 and Wukong!

As far as the card’s performance is concerned, we already had a first glimpse with results from 3DMark Time Spy. Then, at CES, it was the non-XT version’s turn to shine on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with scores obtained in UHD. This time, it’s on Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong that things are happening. The card was put to the test in UHD, QHD and 1080p against the RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4070 Ti.

Broadly speaking, Wukong found that the card kept up with the RTX 4080 Super at all resolutions, with fairly similar results. There was a 3 FPS difference in UHD, four in QHD and two in full HD. As for the RTX 4070 Ti, the card finds itself seriously outpaced in QHD and full HD, with 6 and 10 FPS less respectively.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, AMD’s card is better placed than the RTX 4070 Ti. This time, the game runs with ray tracing, which has an impact on the performance of the red card. In fact, the card delivers the same performance in UHD, 1 FPS less in QHD and two FPS less in 1080p. The RTX 4080 Super, on the other hand, performed 18.8% better in 1080p, 25% better in 1440p and 23.1% better in UHD. It’s also worth noting that Cyberpunk likes NVIDIA cards more than AMD.

In any case, things seem to be coming together around an RX 9070 XT equivalent to an RTX 4080 Super, at least in terms of rasterisation. But to get a more precise idea of the card’s performance, the best thing to do is to wait for independent tests featuring the card on wider gaming panels. In the meantime, we await AMD’s announcement on January 22nd, when prices should be in the region of $480.
