Legacy Kollection to be released on...

It appears that the Xbox App has leaked the release date for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. According to the app, this collection will come out on September 30th.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will feature the first four main MK games, as well as some special handheld versions of them.

To be more precise, it will have the Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy and Game Gear versions of MK1. For MK2, we’ll get the Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, and 32X versions. Surprisingly enough, we won’t get the Game Gear version. For Mortal Kombat 3, we’ll get the Arcade, SNES and Genesis versions. As for UMK3, we’ll only get the Arcade and SNES versions. Finally, for MK4, we’ll get the Arcade version.

The collection will also have the Game Boy Advance versions of Mortal Kombat Advance, Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition.

To be honest, I’m really excited about MK4. The PC, N64 and PSX versions of Mortal Kombat 4 were kind of bad. Well, at least compared to the Arcade version. The only home release that came close to it, visually, was Mortal Kombat 4 Gold for Dreamcast. As such, this will be the first time we’ll get an Arcade-perfect port of it.

Right now, MAME can emulate the game, but it suffers from major visual issues. There are a lot of shading issues that can make the game look kind of bad. At least in my eyes. Yes, it’s playable, but it’s not 100% perfectly emulated.

For what it’s worth, Digital Eclipse has not confirmed nor denied this rumored release date. With EVO happening next weekend, we might get an official announcement about this MK collection during that fighting event.

Stay tuned for more!
