Why didn’t AMD introduce the RX 9070 and 9060?

We were the first to ask ourselves this question, as we had received a series of slides from AMD before the announcements in order to prepare our various news items. So we had all the information about the processors, as well as the four slides below talking about the RX 9070 – RX 9070 XT and also unveiling the RX 9060 – RX 9060 XT.

So why not mention it during AMD’s conference?

Our TechpowerUP colleagues had the opportunity to talk to AMD to find out why. AMD’s defence was a lack of time, the 45-minute presentation being too short to talk about the various processors and future graphics cards. Yeah, personally, we don’t believe it, especially as the slides were ready and they could just announce them, without going into detail. AMD insists that explaining how RDNA 4 works would have taken an enormous amount of time, not least to explain the name change of the next graphics cards… . In short, while on the one hand we can understand, we’re not completely convinced by these explanations.

One thing is certain: the cards will arrive in the first quarter of 2025 and AMD will be holding another conference, lasting at least an hour, to present the cards and the new technologies on board. Let’s hope that nothing is delayed and that AMD doesn’t arrive, as it did for the last generation, with its first cards at a time when almost all of NVIDIA’s range was on the market.
