Bloober Team Is Starting To ‘Stop...

The success of Silent Hill 2 Remake has meant that developer Bloober Team is starting to stop feeling like the underdogs all the time, Jacek Zięba , the director of the company’s next project Cronos: The New Dawn has said during an interview with PCGamer.

Bloober Team’s previous efforts Blair Witch, The Medium and Layers of Fear were not the critical darling that they were hoping for, which lead to some criticism when the studio was announced as the developer of the remake of 2001’s psychological horror classic. However, since Silent Hill 2 Remake was such a hit, Bloober Team has enjoyed a boost in confidence and credibility, which only looks set to continue with Cronos and the recently-announced Silent Hill 1 Remake.

We are starting to stop feeling like underdogs all the time after Silent Hill. The Silent Hill era wasn’t so easy in the eyes of the public. There were a lot of voices: ‘Oh no, Bloober is doing this. They will destroy that.’ It was very tough for the whole company to stick to our guns and put all our heart into that thing, even if most people don’t want it. We proved people wrong, so that’s nice.

Silent Hill 2 Remake was released for PS5 and PC in October 2024 and as of January this year has sold over two million copies worldwide. Reports have claimed that Bloober Team is working on Born from a Wish DLC, which is based on the extra scenario found in Silent Hill 2: Director’s Cut, and sees players controlling Maria.

Cronos: The New Dawn meanwhile is currently in development for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S and is slated to launch in Q3/Q4 2025. In a separate interview with MP1st, Zięba alongside Bloober Team’s Grzegorz Like revealed that the game will support multiple endings that are not easily labelled as good or bad.
