A new page is being turned on the mobile processor front, as Intel has announced the retirement of a number of Alder Lake mobile processors. In fact, all the 12th generation models have been retired, except those from the HX range. In all, around forty processors will no longer be produced or offered for sale!
Alder Lake mobile: around forty CPUs at end of life!
Finally, it’s time for the series to take a well-deserved retirement. At the same time, these processors were released in 2022, so some of them have been on the market for almost three years. In that time, things have moved on, we’ve had Raptor Lake then Raptor Lake Refresh and now the Blues are growing with Arrow Lake.
Despite everything, the company is trying to keep Alder Lake-HX around for a while longer. In fact, processors from this series do not appear on product change notifications. However, with the new series of processors already in place, we see no reason why new series should be released equipped with Alder Lake… Or maybe some local manufacturers in Asia will. This could be an opportunity to offer laptops at very affordable prices.
What’s more, we shouldn’t forget that Alder Lake also has 13th-generation alternatives. TechpowerUp cites the example of the i5 1235U and 1335U, based on similar chips and using the same FCBGA1744 socket.
In any event, the end of orders is set for 25 July, with deliveries of the first batch of CPUs ending on 23 January 2026. Orders for the second batch will close on 25 April, with deliveries ending on 24 October.
