This one seems to have been very quietly announced, and there’s very limited information about it that we can find online. It is listed on LG’s Japan website for upcoming 2025 monitors, and we’ve found some images on European news sites too where the screen was showcased at an event somewhere. The 27G850A is an upcoming 27″ gaming monitor but will be the first in the World to offer a 4K resolution and 240Hz from an IPS LCD panel. In fact, it’s an IPS Black panel with an enhanced 2000:1 contrast ratio, so even better. In fact, it goes a step even further than that as it offers a dual-mode function that allows you to run at 1080p and 480Hz instead if you prefer!

LG 27G850A Specs
The screen is 27″ in size and built around an LG.Display ‘Nano IPS Black’ panel. It offers a 3840 x 2160 “4K” resolution along with a native 240Hz refresh rate, the first time this combination has been available from an IPS panel in fact. A dual-mode function allows you to double your refresh rate to 480Hz if you rather, while dropping your resolution to 1080p. The screen supports adaptive-sync for VRR and includes certification under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium Pro’ and NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ schemes.
The panel has the usual 1ms G2G response time spec, and a contrast ratio of 2000:1. It also has a wide colour gamut covering 99% DCI-P3. The stand offers a full range of tilt, height, swivel and rotate adjustments.

Mid-tier HDR capabilities
The screen also supports some mid-tier HDR with basic edge-lit local dimming and certification under the VESA DisplayHDR 600 tier. This includes a peak brightness of 600 nits.
Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1
The connectivity options list 1x DisplayPort 2.1 which we believe to be UHBR13.5 speeds like on several of their other recent monitors, not sufficient to power the 4K 240Hz with an uncompressed video signal unfortunately. 2x HDMI and 1x USB data ports are also listed along with a 4-pole headphone jack which includes DTS Headphone:X sound.
Pricing and Availability
Tweakers.net suggest the screen should be released in some European regions in March at 799 Euro. We do not yet have information on wider release like in the US. More info when we get it.
