New embargo dates for the RTX 50 series GPUs reveal that the RTX 5080 will not be reviewed first; instead, reviews for the RTX 5090 will go live days in advance.
If you’re eagerly awaiting the next-gen RTX 50 series GPUs, you can now mark your calendars for the end of the month, when two out of the three cards are confirmed to hit the shelves. Originally, Nvidia had restricted any information about the RTX 5080 from being released before January 21st, which was its rumored sale date. However, plans appear to have shifted as the company released the final RTX 5080 BIOS in late December, pushing board partners to work overtime to prepare for the launch.
This, in turn, caused Nvidia to reschedule the embargo date to January 30th, which is also the new release date for the two GPUs: the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. However, as reported by Videocardz, the embargo for reviews doesn’t apply to both cards on the same day, with reviews for the RTX 5090 set to arrive just under a week earlier.
Same embargo dates for RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D, Founders, and AIB cards
One key detail in these embargo dates suggests that Nvidia doesn’t have separate embargoes for Founders Edition and AIB cards this time. The NDAs issued today by Nvidia and several other brands list the same dates for both types of graphics cards. Additionally, Nvidia has aligned the embargo for its global RTX 5090 with the China-only RTX 5090D models. For those unaware, the RTX 5090D will be exclusive to China and is reportedly designed with restricted AI performance compared to the global variant as a result of shipping restrictions.
