Steam drops over 40 free downloads in huge limited-time giveaway

Gear up

Steam has just dropped over 40 free downloads available for all users to download onto their computers.

Periodically throughout the year, Steam runs several themed events for game developers to promote their games.

These events are usually populated with live streams, deep discounts, and lots of free demos. It’s always worth checking out if you’re a PC gamer.

For example, we recently had the City Builder & Colony Sim Fest, the Creature Collector Fest, and the Fishing Fest. And this is outside of the regularly scheduled seasonal sales and Next Fest events which run several times a year.

Steam Racing Fest is the latest event to hit Steam, promoting a diverse range of driving and racing games for users to check out. It’s available until next Monday, so there’s plenty of time to check it out.

There are over 40 free demos available to play now as part of Steam Racing Fest, ranging from arcade racers to full-blown simulations.

Some of the highlights include the arcade multiplayer game Random Racing, the physics-bending motorcycle game Trials Rising, and Drift King—a game about, well, drifting.

Discounts for various games are also available during the Steam Racing Fest, allowing you to purchase highly-rated racing and driving games at a reduced price.

Some of the games on offer include The Crew: Motorfest, Automobilista 2, and the Rush Rally series.

If you dig deep enough you can also find large discounts for games nearly a decade old. I’ve seen 90% off deals for games like All-Star Fruit Racing, Moto Racer 4, and Gravel.

Steam Racing Fest runs until 4 August, 2025, so you have just under a week to check the festival out and download the free demos.

It should be enough time to add a few games to your wishlist, or perhaps pick up something you’ve been waiting to go on sale.
