Nvidia revealed the new RTX 50 series last week at CES 2025 and there has been plenty to look forward to if you’re planning to upgrade your graphics card this year. While the flagship model will indeed deliver at the high end for gamers and creators, we tend to see the more budget models reign supreme in popularity. However, since Nvidia doesn’t yet have anything to say about the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti, that leaves us with the 5070 and upwards to think about for the time being.
Both the 5090 and 5080 will be available at the end of January, while the 5070 series will arrive sometime in February. So, with that in mind, we recently ran a poll to see what PC gamers are most interested in from the current selection. It has now passed over 1,000 votes, and according to the results, despite being the cheapest option of them all, the 5070 is in last place.
RTX 5070 could fall out of favor compared to its Ti variant
At the time of writing, the RTX 5070 only has a 17% share of the votes (198 votes). Compare that to the 5070 Ti with 28% (320 votes), and it looks like the Ti variant is pulling ahead significantly. Looking at the difference in specs between the two cards, the 5070 Ti should provide a notable uplift in performance, particularly if you plan to make the upgrade to 4K this year.
On top of that, the 5070 sticking to 12GB of VRAM is seen as a disappointing design choice for many gamers. Even still, the 5070’s price tag – $200 cheaper than the Ti – should prove to be a big selling point once push comes to shove and it’s time to upgrade your GPU.

While we can’t say that these results accurately represent every single PC gamer out there, it certainly feels unusual to see the cheapest GPU of the series (so far) as the least favorite. Perhaps those who will end up considering the 5070 are simply waiting to see how the 5060 series is priced before deciding where their money should go.
In any case, we can also see that the RTX 5090 is out on top with the lion’s share of votes at the moment. On the contrary, the 5090 will be a tough ask for most consumers given its $1,999 MSRP and high power requirements – though, as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recently said, “many of our customers are simply after the absolute best”.
