As for AMD’s future graphics cards, those that were not unveiled at the brand’s CES conference, it would appear that the reds are preparing an event in the near future. If Chiphell is to be believed, January 22 is the date the company has set for the official announcement of these cards!
RX 9070 XT: AMD card to be announced on January 22?
As you know, AMD’s CES conference was disappointing, and for good reason. While NVIDIA unveiled its GeForce RTX 50s as expected, the reds were a big disappointment, with no new cards presented. Afterwards, the company gave dubious reasons to our colleagues, putting forward the argument of lack of time, an argument that didn’t convince us either.
However, it would appear that the reason was quite different, and that the announcement of the RX 9000 was postponed until the last moment. At least, that’s what we gather from reading the article by our colleague El Chapuzas Informatico. Clearly, the latter were not expecting such a premature announcement of the green RTX 5070.
The Reds may correct this mistake by organizing a new conference later this month, on January 22 to be precise. This event will be an opportunity for the company to take its time and make a proper announcement, and to explain in detail the improvements and new features of RDNA 4. What’s more, it’s not impossible that tests will be published on the same day as the card’s announcement.
In terms of pricing, we’re told that the reference card will cost $479, compared with $550 for the custom versions. However, if the RX 9070 XT is intended to rival the RTX 5070 Ti, this would make it a serious contender on the price front. Remember that NVIDIA’s card was advertised at $749, a hefty 36% difference that should enable AMD to re-capture market share, a goal the company has set itself.
The question now is how much that will be in euros, since we often get screwed on the conversion. El Chapuzas mentions a price of €580 in Spain for the AMD model, so don’t expect any lower prices in France.
