be quiet! Confirm PSU Compatibility With Upcoming NVIDIA and AMD GPUs

CES 2025 this week saw the unveiling of new discrete GPUs from both AMD and NVIDIA, but the latter in particular is likely to reach new heights in power demands. Thankfully be quiet! power supply compatibility has been confirmed for these new hardware designs ahead of time.

The GeForce RTX 5090 is based on a brand new GPU architecture but the performance improvements have come at the cost of higher listed power requirements. This flagship card is rated at a whopping 575W, more even than the stock RTX 4090, and it will demand a very hefty and reliable PSU to feed it that power with sustained and stable voltages.

Less demanding models lower in the range will also be sensitive to dips and interruptions in power delivery, even if the requirements aren’t quite so stringent. The same is true of the Radeon RX 9070-series, expected in Q1 2025.

The be quiet! Dark Power (Pro) 13 (1600W-750W), Straight Power 12 (1500W-750W) and Pure Power 12 (M) (1200W-550W) are all confirmed to be compatible with the new cards, though end-users should still be mindful of the rated supply on each model. Suitable Connector support, which may have been a concern just a few years ago, is also assured.

Prospective owners can check the be quiet Power Supple Calculator for a particular system configuration’s estimated recommended PSU. The checker should be updated to add the upcoming GPUs later this quarter.

Meanwhile, be quiet! have also confirmed that there will be no compatibility issues between their current LGA1851/AM5 coolers and the upcoming processors releasing in the coming months for those sockets. Both Intel and AMD announced a narrow selection of additions to their Core Ultra 200-series and Ryzen 9000-series respectively this week; an ideal cooler for any will be found among be quiet’s extensive range.
